Heike Brötz-Oesterhelt and John Weir will share their insight in a career in research and how they came to the positions they are holding. This will include: • What life is like as a Professor at a university compared to a Scientist/Department leader in Industry • What does it mean to be an independent group leader at a research Institute

The presentations will be followed by an interactive Q&A-session in breakout rooms.

John will be available for one-on-one sessions.

About the tutor: 
--> Prof. Dr. Heike Brötz-Oesterhelt did her PhD at the Institute of Medical Microbiology at the university of Bonn. After this she held positions in industry at Bayer HealthCare and AiCuris GmbH & Co.KG (co-founder). The next step in her career was the professorship for Pharmaceutical Biology at the University of Düsseldorf. Since 2014 she is holding a full professorship at the university of Tübingen and is head of the IMIT. --> Dr. John Weir started his career as research assistant at the MRC-LMB in Cambridge (UK). He did his PhD at the EMBL Heidelberg and the MPI for Biochemistry in Martinsried. To move on in science he went for a postdoc position at the MPI for Molecular Physiology in Dortmund. Since 2017 John has been an independent group leader at the FML Tübingen.
