Description:

During this workshop you will achieve all necessary tools to prepare a written report for your first TAC meeting.

High quality scientific writing is crucial for scientific success and can help to increase the impact of your research. The ability to clearly and effectively communicate your research results will help with writing your thesis and publishing scientific articles.

This workshop will support you with developing the different written sections of your first TAC report and provide basic training for writing tasks in general.

We will look at general features of academic writing such as formality, objectivity, precision and clarity and discuss practical methods for improvement in these areas.

Individual feedback:

The last day (Friday) of the workshop will consist of individual feedback appointments (15 min each). Once you have signed up for the workshop, we will contact you to arrange the time. In order to receive individual feedback you will be asked to prepare a partial draft of your report in advance.

About the tutor:
Deborah Bennett is a native of the UK and holds a PhD in Mathematical Biology from the University of Surrey, England. She has worked as a freelance academic writing trainer since 2010.
